About Lauren
The heart behind Homefront Care.
Get to Know Me
I'm Lauren Davis, the face behind Homefront Care. I live in rural Washougal, and caring for animals has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, that care has grown to include homes, farms, and gardens. I care deeply about this community and the people in it. Being trusted to step in while someone is away is an honor, and when you hand me your keys, I treat your home, animals, and garden like they're my own.
My Experience
I've been pet sitting for over 25 years, and I've worked in animal rescue, at a horse stable, in pet retail, and at a doggy daycare. I also spent years as a professional dog groomer at a high-end salon in the Chicago suburbs, where I trained under a nationally ranked groomer and member of Groom Team USA and built an extensive list of loyal clients. Along the way, I've cared for every kind of animal, from anxious rescue dogs to senior cats to livestock.
I also lived and worked full time on a 30-acre farm in the Columbia River Gorge, where I raised my own flock of sheep, goats, and chickens alongside livestock guardian dogs. I birthed lambs, administered medications, and handled the daily care that keeps a farm running. When I arrived, the property had nothing but fruit trees, so I built its garden from the ground up. For the past nine years, I've helped people establish gardens of all kinds.
Before starting Homefront Care, I worked in property management, handling everything from maintenance to running an event venue. I've coordinated weddings, receptions, photography sessions, and other events, where reliability, organization, and staying calm under pressure are everything. That work also taught me to notice the small things: a dripping faucet, a gate left unlatched, a plant that needs attention. That eye for detail comes with me to every home I care for.
Why I Do This
Helping people is at the heart of who I am, and caring for their animals and homes is how I do it best. I started Homefront Care because I know firsthand how hard it can be to find someone you truly trust with the animals you love. Finding reliable care for my own animals has always been a challenge, so I set out to be the sitter I'd always hoped to find.
There's nothing better than hearing a client say they didn't worry once while they were away. Whether you live in town or on acreage, I want your home to feel cared for and your animals to feel loved until you walk back through the door.
A Little More About Me
My dog Griswold is my whole world, and I share our home with my partner, Brian, and his very clever cat, Roger. Brian and I met nearly a decade ago while we were each traveling the country solo in our campers in Colorado, and exploring together is still one of our favorite things. You'll usually find us hiking, camping, or relaxing by a fire with friends, and I'm always happiest tending my own garden.
Alongside Homefront Care, I work remotely in marketing and branding, building websites for local businesses. Working from home means I set my own schedule, and I build it around the animals in my care.
I'm also the maker behind Toadstool & Timber, my handmade PNW art brand, which you can find in three local shops in Camas and at markets and pop-ups around the area. Between my websites, my art, and Homefront Care, I feel lucky to be so connected to this community. I love supporting the people and businesses that make it such a special place to call home.
